Stoing boat stuff off season

We have owned a sail boat for a long time. The thing about boats is that you have to remove and store all your belongings each winter. For many years, we stored our stuff in our basement. Most people who live in the suburbs probably store stuff in their garages. In the city, finding places to store you stuff is difficult. So after many years of bringing all the stuff back to our basement, we needed a new strategy. Visit.

We started to do research on storage units in the area. There turned out to be a storage unit for rent not too far down the road. I’m thinking this is the case all over now and that storage units are really easy to locate. They seem to have been built all over the place. I guess that the companies in this business have decided that this is a growth market. Anyway, back to my story.

So we rented a storage unit near by. We drove all the stuff from the boat to the storage unit. There was soo much stuff that we had to go back and forth a number of times. What I found was that because we were so close, I actually took more things off the boat and into storage. This turns out to be a good thing. See, things near the water or in the boat tend to mold. The storage unit was climate controlled, so there was no humiditiy. This had the advantage of keeping things from molding, and they smelled better too.
